Summary of Position
Federal Signal has an immediate opening at its University Park, IL location for a Planner. This position is concerned with maximizing service levels to all customers, both internal and external, by effectively releasing work orders to meet customer demand requirements and to maintain designated safety stock levels. Planners must effectively support varying levels of sales while attempting to minimize sharp fluctuations in production requirements, thereby maintaining workforce stability.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate, release, maintain, and expedite production orders in order to meet customer delivery expectations. Maintain designated stocking levels of A products as well as satisfying service parts demand requirements.
Verify material availability of all components prior to releasing work orders to production.
Establish priorities for all assigned work centers and work closely with manufacturing operations to ensure adherence to priorities.
Evaluate planning item branch data in JDEdwards on a regular basis, ensuring that all planning-related parameters (planner code, order policy, lean mfg flag, etc.) are accurately maintained.
Analyze inventories to maintain lowest possible inventory level while still meeting demand requirements. Work with Materials team on right sizing Kanban cards periodically. Assist in disposition of slow moving and obsolete inventory.
Communicate all material issues, both current and potential future, that will have a significant impact on the plant scheduling of operations.
Work with ECN Coordinator to ensure that changes are processed in a timely and cost effective manner.
Develop, maintain, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) that will drive continuous improvements in production planning processes.
Position Requirements
High School Diploma
Minimum of 3 years of Production Planning or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Person must like working in a fast pace environment.
Must be able to work with people at all levels of the business in a professional manner.
Must have solid and timely verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize distribution of work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.
Demonstrate proficiency in computer programs including Excel, Word, MS Project, Access, PowerPoint.
Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs & ladders.
Ability to work in areas that can be uncomfortable due to noise and temperature.
Knowledge of MRP functionality including, but not limited to: action messages, netting functionality, pegging, and independent/dependent demand.
Knowledge of pull systems.
Proven knowledge of BOM usage, structures, and where-used functionality.
Knowledge of JDEdwards queries to capture data and understanding of how the data can be leveraged to drive continuous improvements.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
