Health & Safety Manager (University Park, IL)

The Health & Safety Manager will provide leadership across the University Park and Blue Island plants and Novecare on safety management systems and compliance with OSHA Regulations 29 CFR 1910.
Provide technical assistance, recommendations and guidance as it relates to site or areas needs for:


  • OSHA compliance for worker safety, chemical and physical exposures, equipment safety and material handling


  • Incident investigation and root cause analyses techniques


  • Risk assessment in the areas of industrial hygiene and occupational safety (JSA/Critical Task Analyses)?


  • Safety management program systems; process safety and behavior based safety systems; programs and processes to drive safety training


  • Manage the monthly metrics and reporting for UP and BI of data as required to Safety Health Risk Services, Responsible Care Management Systems, Annual Safety Dialogue, and?


  • Responsible to review and update safety procedures and policies?


  • Provide Leadership for Novecare?s? Safety programs across the areas aligning for consistency where appropriate


  • Participate in the HS Audits, internal and external??


  • Ensure the consistent implementation of safety programs, procedures and guidelines


  • Lead the review of incidents to ensure they are properly classified and investigated, and drive the implementation of corrective actions


  • Assist in the safety evaluation of new projects and ventures, evaluate and recommend actions to improve safety performance and lower risk


  • Lead the development and conduct training sessions for University Park and Blue Island?


  • Assist in developing and implementing Novecare and Solvay corporate safety programs and initiatives.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of safety, including a mix of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations, and American Chemical Council guidelines


  • Proven ability to analyze situations and data to make sound decisions


  • Comfortable in front of a group: whether it's training frontline employees or presenting a safety plan of action to a potential customer


  • Excellent written communication skills for writing reports, trainings, proposals and more. Writing must be concise and exact

  • Experience in conducting inspections, audit protocols, risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques?


  • Experience in Hazard Recognition, Evaluation & Control?


  • Knowledge of Computers & Automation for Safety?




  • BS/MS in a technical field, Bachelors Degree in Health & Safety Management or related science/engineering area preferred; and/or equivalent experience/training in addition to experience leading to the thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.


  • 5+ years in Safety and Health responsibilities, certified safety professional or equivalent


  • Chemical plant and/or manufacturing experience highly preferred.




  • BS/MS in a technical field, Bachelors Degree in Health & Safety Management or related science/engineering area preferred; and/or equivalent experience/training in addition to experience leading to the thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.


  • 5+ years in Safety and Health responsibilities, certified safety professional or equivalent


  • Chemical plant and/or manufacturing experience highly preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
