Accounting Intern

We are currently seeking an Accounting Intern based out of our facility in University Park, Illinois.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Intern will be responsible for assisting with all general accounting duties, including taking an active role in the monthly close process. The Accounting team is responsible for all aspects of the local general ledger and administers the accounting compliance function. The Accounting Intern will have the opportunity to become an instrumental part of the overall Accounting team, while building technical and professional skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist internal and external auditors, including preparation of schedules used for audit purposes and other information requests.
Work alongside and assist other accounting functions, including Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable and Credit & Collections, and perform rotational roles in these areas to gain exposure.
Actively seek opportunities to understand existing processes, and make suggestions for improvements.
Assist in ad hoc projects, including but not limited to data gathering in conjunction with adoption of new lease accounting standards, and archiving of vendor W-9 files.
Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:EDUCATION and SKILLS:
Undergraduate student pursuing major in Accounting; must have completed at minimum of 2 years of college.
Solid analytical skills and self-motivated.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to work in a team environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.Benefits of Employment:Benefits include paid holiday on Independence Day and company subsidized cafeteria.
This is a non-exempt classified position and therefore eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
