96 an hour 19 hours ago 19 hours ago 19 hours ago Job Summary The Control Room Operator (CRO) is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis.
The CRO responds to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and executes plant shutdown and start-up operations as required.
The CRO assures that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner.
Hourly rate range is $46.
22 - $50.
96 per hour, depending on experience.
Job Functions Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to the Operations Manager.
Make entries in the Operating Log and approve and issue Lockout/Tagouts as required.
Receive and respond to station market dispatcher's orders and requests.
Operate controls to regulate the megawatts, voltage, and environmental compliance for plant conditions.
Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard station equipment.
Provide direction to AO (Auxiliary Operators) to effect changes in plant conditions.
The CRO operates from established procedures under general directions and minimum supervision.
Decisions are made within prescribed operating and casualty procedures and guidelines.
The CRO encounters recurring work situations of high complexity with occasional variations from the norm.
The CRO has the authority to control the operation of the plant and must do so in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times.
The CRO must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvements.
The CRO must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost benefit ratio.
All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.
The CRO provides work direction to, as well as performance oversight of, the AOs.
The CRO may also give direction to contacted personnel on matters pertaining to outage and emergent plant operations.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.
Minimum of two years of experience as an Assistant Plant Operator or equivalent position in an operating or generating plant required.
Associate degree in a technical field desirable.
Must successfully complete the CRO qualification card.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
Basic data entry/computer skills Work as a team.
Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all the business challenges.
Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Requires a valid drivers license as driving company vehicles is required.
Requires working extended working hours, varied shifts or 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions.
On call status (day and night) may be required.
Includes working indoors and outdoors.
